Rhyl lost at home to Warrington Town in their fifth pre-season match of the season. The Lilywhites made a promising start and took the lead after 7 minutes when Kristian Pierce chipped the Warrington Goalkeeper Karl Wills to put the home side 1 - 0 up. Rob Hughes created a chance for Rhyl to double the lead in the 18 minute and was unlucky to hit the bar from 25 yards. Warrington got more into the game as the half drew to a close.
The second half was only three minutes old when James Dean made the most of a cross and found space in the box to put away a free header. As the half drew on a number of substitutes were made to rotate the home squad in advance of their second match against Liverpool U23's on Sunday and eventually Warrington were able to shape a decisive opportunity. A Ciaran Kilheeney effort was saved by Mike Askew in the Rhyl goal but the rebound fell to Scott Harries who made no mistake with his opportunity.
