Rhyl vs. Bangor City
Corbett Sports Stadium
Rhyl continued their impressive recent form with a fine victory against Bangor City in what proved to be an entertaining derby clash.
Toby Jones grabbed the winner early in the second half with a close range effort as the Lilywhites notched up their fifth win in six games and they now leapfrog Bangor into 3rd place.
Rhyl had the better of the first half and created numerous chances to take the lead, the closest being when Brewerton headed onto the post following a corner.
The opening goal evaded the Lilywhites however and the score at half time remained at 0-0.
Rhyl were undeterred though and began the second half how they had ended the first; they soon had their reward.
Ahmadi raced down the right flank and cut back inside the box, his cross was defected into the path of Toby Jones who applied the finish into the bottom corner.
Bangor then rallied as the half went on and came close late with two chances, first hitting the bar from a header and then seeing a looping header cleared off the line in stoppage time.
Rhyl defended resiliently however and held on to claim all three points.
