Rhyl bounce back to celebrate the New Year with a hard fought 2-0 win over Bala Town at the Corbett Sports.
Recently beaten 6-1 by the same opponents, the Lilywhites went out with a point to prove and took the initiative through Toby Jones' first half goal before Alex Jones added a second to give Rhyl the victory.
The visitors started brightly but failed to make their pressure count - Rhyl soon grew into the game and looked dangerous in the final third.
The Lilywhites pressure paid off when Toby Jones opened the scoring with a poked finish into the bottom corner after latching onto a lobbed through ball.
A frantic couple of minutes saw Bala go close twice, first a point blank header fell wide before Owen Evans saved a back post header.
The Lilywhites doubled their advantage though when possibly the smallest player on the pitch, Alex Jones rose like a salmon and headed powerfully beyond Morris and into the net for 2-0.
Bala responded again but were denied again by Evans who saved well from Connolly's low shot, the Bala player had looked certain to score after being found in a acres of space in the box.
The second half saw Rhyl firmly gain control of the match, limiting any chances for Bala whilst looking creating chances of their own - Alex Jones could have grabbed his second but the ball got caught under his feet and the keeper collected from just yards out.
Carl Lamb then drew a good low save Morris as Rhyl sought to put the game beyond the away sides reach.
The visitors though were awarded a golden route back into the match when Sharples was adjudged to have handled a cross despite being extremely close to the player at the time.
The penalty however, was smashed over the bar by Lee Hunt - the shot summed up the frustrating night for Bala.
Owen Evans then saved from point blank range to deny Bala again in the dying seconds - earning his clean sheet and rounding off 2016 with a great win.
