Last Saturday saw the annual Rhyl FC Girls football tournament take place at the Corbett Sports Stadium.

The tournament attracted teams from across North Wales and the North West to Rhyl and was described by Rhyl Girl's Coach Rebekah Hansen as "a great advert for Girls football."

Teams who took part in the tournament included River Juniors, Glenavon, Northop Hall, Caernarfon, Llanwrst, St Anne's, Brickfield, Runcorn Linnets, Borras Park and Flint together with teams from Rhyl FC.

The Under 10's tournament was won by Runcorn Linnets Under 10's who defeated Rhyl Under 10's in the final 1-0.

In the Under 12's competition Rhyl Girls entered 2 sides - the Under 11's and the Under 12's and both sides battled there way through to the final.  The Under 11's pulled off a shock in the final defeating their older team 2-0 in the final.

The Under 12's are currently in a busy spell.  From their success in winning the league, and losing only one game in the process, they have now reached the final of their League Cup. The Under 12's defeated Northop Hall on Monday night 9-0 and now face Llandudno in the final on Saturday.  They have also qualified for the final of the Super Cup which will be held on the 24th May.

This coming weekend (20th and 21st May) it's the turn of the boys of the future to star on the Corbett Sports Stadium turf as touranments for Under 7's, 8's and 9's take place on Saturday with the Under 10's and 11's on Sunday.
