Saturday afternoon certainly had all the drama as the Lilywhites came from behind to clinch three vital points in their battle for Dafabet Welsh Premier League survival.

Trailing to a Steve Tomassen goal a Chris Rimmer header and then a late late Steve Lewis strike sent the Corbett Sports Stadium faithful wild and lifted Rhyl out of the relegation zone for at least 24 hours. Whilst it was joy for Rhyl, the result sent Airbus down into the Huws Gray Alliance League for next season.

After the game we spoke to Steve Lewis on the last minute winner and taking the momentum forward.

24 hours later Aberystwyth responded to the pressure that Rhyl had placed them under with a 2-0 victory against Llandudno in the live Sgorio match. These results mean that we are in the same position - two points behind Aberystwyth.

So how does it all potentially pan out?

On paper 4 teams could still go down.

Llandudno need a point to absolutely guarantee survival. They play Cefn Druids on Friday and a point for either side should be enough to see both sides stay up. Due to Rhyl playing Aber later that night, the two sides below will drop points. Worst case scenario for Llandudno is defeat against Druids, a Rhyl double in their games against Aber and then against Llandudno and an Aber win last game of the season.  This would put Rhyl on 35, Aber on 34 and Llandudno on 34.  However they have a +8 goal difference to Aber which means that even under this scenario relegation is unlikely.

Cefn Druids last two matches are against Llandudno and then Airbus last day of the season.  Similarly a point should guarantee survival. However if they lose both matches and then the above scenario happens in the Rhyl and Aber games they go down.

For Rhyl to live to fight another day they need to avoid defeat on Friday.  A win sees them climb a point above Aber heading into the final day against Llandudno. The equation then would be to secure at least the same type of result as Aber on the last day and survival is ensured.  A draw would mean that a win would be needed last day of the season and hope that Aber lose to Newtown at Latham Park.  Defeat on Friday will send the Lilywhites down.
