Match Report

A crazy game at the Corbett Sports saw both teams leave with a point in a thrilling 3-3 contest.

Caernarfon Town were leading 3-1 in the second half but a late flurry from Rhyl gave both teams a share of the spoils.

Caernarfon Town stormed into an early lead when Brookwell slotted past Crowther following a quick counter attack before Thomas doubled the lead with a low strike that found the far bottom corner.

An own goal from former Rhyl keeper Alex Ramsay brought the Lilywhites back into the game when the ball was palmed into the net from Rowland's cross.

The visitor's regained their two goal cushion after the break with Gibbs' half volley but Rhyl produced a stunning comeback; first Gerwyn Jones headed in from close range before a last minute penalty after Whitehouse was brought down gave Rhyl the chance to salvage a draw.

Connolly stepped up and saw his 12 yard strike saved by Ramsay before tucking in the rebound with his head, sparking wild celebrations.

The drama did not stop there though; deep into stoppage time, Caernarfon thought they had grabbed the winner with a lobbed goal but the referee pulled play back for a foul on the edge of the area, leaving the Caernarfon players and fans furious.

During the commotion, James Bell was given a second yellow card and sent off for the foul, leaving Rhyl down to ten men for the remaining minutes.

The resulting free kick was deflected wide and following a brief minute of pressure, the drama continued, Craig fired over from 20 yards in the last action of the game and Gibbs was then sent off for dissent, reducing both teams to ten men.

The late drama was ended seconds later in a match that lived up to the prior expectation.
