Rhyl completed the league double over Flint Town United in a deserved 2-1 victory at the Corbett Sports Stadium.

The first half started with Rhyl attacking the Kop end and neither side created clear cut opportunities in the opening 15 minutes.  The game came to life when Danny Holland was able to clear a goalbound effort off the line and immediately Rhyl broke down the other end and Pomeyie forced a great save from Niki Lee Bulmer in the Flint goal. This chance started a Pomeyie / Bulmer dual with the keeper able to save a number of great chances from the quick attacker.

James Murphy, who scored a hat-trick last time out, had a good chance from the left but a Flint defender was able to block the goal bound effort and then a flick through from Phil Marsh created a half chance for Murphy but Bulmer was out quickly to deny the opportunity.

Against the run of play Flint had a chance to take the lead close to half time after good work by Sean Beck down the Flint left but Andy Brown was unable to make a clean connection with the cross and Crowther was able to recover to save.

Rhyl started the second half positively and in the 49th minute a Danny Holland header hit the crossbar and Flint were able to clear the danger.  A good run by the lively Liam Langford saw a good cross which flashed across the six yard box but no attacker was able to convert the opportunity. Shortly afterwards Rhyl took the lead when Pomeyie was able to finally get the better of Pomeyie.  A through ball enabled Pomeyie to breakthrough the Flint defence and he calmly advanced on Bulmer and applied the finish to put the Lilywhites in the lead.

Immediately Flint sought to hit back with Kyle Smyth going close and then a late challenge by Richie Foulkes on Stewart Carroll, which could have seen a harsher punishment than the yellow issued by Lee Evans, saw a delay in play whilst the midfielder received treatment.  Shortly afterwards a lapse in concentration saw a simple ball through catch out the Rhyl defence and former player Mark Cadwallader was on hand to apply a deft finish when he lifted the ball over Crowther to bring the scores level.

Flint grew in confidence but shortly afterwards Pomeyie was again the difference.  Good work down the right forced a corner for Rhyl and shortly afterwards further good work from Pomeyie saw a ball floated across the six yard box from the right and Phil Marsh was on hand to apply the finish and grab his third goal of the season in the 71st minute.

Mark Connolly replaced Pomeyie shortly afterwards and the last 15 minutes saw Flint battle hard to grab an equaliser with a number of long throws and corners which the Rhyl defence and Tony Davies in particularly dealt with to ensure that the Lilywhites picked up the three points to lift them up to 5th in the table.
