The scoring was opened in the 18th minute when Lee Hunt was able to fire home past Paul Smith in the Bangor goal to put the Lilywhites ahead.  Bangor quickly got on to level terms when Ashley Stott pulled one back.  Brewerton, who played the first half for Rhyl, forced an excellent save from Smith with a shot from the edge of the box shortly before Rhyl were able to re-take the lead.  Lee Hunt was on hand to head home the resultant corner.  Stewart White was able to find space down the Rhyl left and force a shot home past Smith to put Rhyl 3-1 up at the break.

James Brewerton switched over to Bangor City for the second half and with Paul Pritchard taking over between the sticks for Rhyl, Paul Whitfield played outfield and was on hand to finish neatly to put the Lilywhites further ahead early in the second half.  The best goal of the evening extended the Lilywhites lead when Lee Hunt was played through and he calmly chipped the ball over the head of the advancing Bangor keeper to make it 5-2.

The last word was left to James Brewerton who was able to score for close range for Bangor in a rare occasison where a goal from a Bangor City player drew applause from the Rhyl crowd to complete a memorable evening.
