Match Preview - Rhyl v Flint Town United - 10/3/2018

09 March 2018

Rhyl welcome Flint Town United to the Corbett Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon (kick off 2.30pm) in a Huws Gray Alliance match. For Rhyl the squad will be boosted by the availability of Jason Jeffries and Tony Davies after the completion of their 3 match suspensions. However James Brewerton will be missing as he completes his recent 2 match suspension. With no fresh injuries to report since the win against Gresford, Manager Matthew Jones will be hoping that Rhyl continue where they left off in their last game with 4 goals and a clean sheet as the Lilywhites seek to finish in the top 6 this season.

Ahead of the game Jones commented that "It’s nice to get back to action after the week off last week with the snow. Yet again the lads have trained well this week and we feel we are in good shape. We feel we are prepared for this game and the challenges Flint will present. I said last week that our aim is to pick up as many points as possible between now and the end of the season, and that begins Saturday"

Recent Form

Flint have taken 7 points from their last 6 games with recent form mixed. In their defence these matches included games against 4 of the top 6 in the League. Wins at Penrhyncoch and away against inform Denbigh Town have been the recent highlights. Wednesday night saw a disappointing 3-0 home defeat against Flintshire rivals Airbus UK Broughton whilst they were defeated against leaders Caernarfon Town and struggling Caersws. A point was secured away against 3rd place Guilsfield in a 2-2 draw.

The Flint squad, managed by former Rhyl Manager Niall McGuinness includes a number of ex Rhyl players with three ex Lilywhites starting against Airbus in midweek. Keeper Niki Lee Bulmer and defenders Jack Lewis and Stefan Halewood were in the starting XI with midfielder Mark Cadwallader an unused substitute. However a definite absentee on Saturday will be Halewood who picked up two yellow cards in the defeat and will be suspended for the return against his former club.
