New set up for Rhyl FC Girls

04 July 2018

Rhyl Football Club have announced the appointment of John Watkiss to take a lead on the Rhyl FC Girls section. John was previously an Academy Coach at Rhyl FC and is a well known figure locally in Junior football in the local area.

Rhyl Ladies’ Director Tom Jamieson was eager to emphasise John’s role in taking the Girl’s set up further and the development of the player pathway from Junior football to the Orchards Welsh Premier Women’s League. The club will continue to operate teams at the key age groups of Under 8’s Under 10’s, Under 12’s, Under 14’s and Under 16’s and Tom Jamieson emphasised the opportunities for players to progress at the club once they reach the age of 16 as the Rhyl Ladies Development squad will bridge the gap between Junior Football and National League football.

The Club have confirmed that Lauren Parr will assist with coaching of the teams and that an open session for new players wishing to join Rhyl Girls will be held on Thursday 19th July at Ffordd Derwen, Rhyl. Tom stated that “the forthcoming sessions will attract some of the best local players and with the coaching staff on board at the club now the Girls and Ladies section will go from strength to strength.”

For further information parents are requested to visit the Facebook page Rhyl FC Girls & Ladies to register their interest in attending the open sessions. Opportunities will also be available for local companies to sponsor the playing kits for the Girls team this season.
