The green green grass of home

05 December 2017

As we head into the winter months, the green green grass of the Corbett Sports Stadium remains in great condition.

Over the summer 360 Groundcare, a local St Asaph based ground and turf management were able to assist Rhyl's volunteer groundsmen by undertaking key pieces of work to the pitch.

360 Groundcare were able to undertake verti draining to the pitch which was able to get some air into the profile of the subsoil, releasing compaction to improve the quality of the pitch. They also removed the crown areas in the two goal mouth areas of the pitch and then levelled the ground and relaid new turf.

This turf was quickly established thanks to the work of the volunteers who cared for the pitch during the summer evenings and ensured that by July the pitch was in perfect position to hold UEFA Europa League matches and also host Premiership sides such as Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion.

Since the start of the season the pitch has been kept in tip top condition by volunteers such as Ian Endres and Kevin Warner.

360 Groundcare's Chief Executive Miles Todd was a recent visitor to the Corbett Sports Stadium to see the fruition of his company's work and meet Manager Mark Connolly and members of the first team squad.

Rhyl FC Managing Director Mike Jones commented that "the support shown on and off the field from Miles was gratefully received and we hope more local businesses join to support us, either financially or with materials to help us keep Rhyl FC alive and successful."
